This is a better form than some of the forms seen overseas, and therefore have given it the cultivar name 'Merv' after its finder. |

Flowers pure white with reflexed tepals and yellow anthers, a slightly green bar makes it a very fine flower, tepals x8, 15-20cm dia. Flowers are sometimes semi-double. (xB) Spring and autumn. Suitable for container. This one has been sold in NZ with the wrong name - "Otto Froebel".
Named for the English nurse, Edith Cavell (1865-1915), who managed a nursing home in Brussels and helped wounded soldiers to escape during the first World War. She was executed by the German forces occupying Belgium in October 1915. |
